 In pending Storms

Update #7 1:19 PM | 11/22 : The latest ECMWF just came out and it is much stronger and much colder with the storm system and is coming more along the lines of the NAM and the CMC. Tracks the low through jansas up through Central Iowa placing much of Western, Central and Eastern Nebraska as well as portions of South Dakota in the Winter Storm Threat. Stay tuned.

Updates #6 10:25 AM | 11/22 : The mornings NAM computer model runs are very agressive with a winter storm occuring over much of Northern, Central and Eastern Nebraska on Monday Night-Tuesday. In fact, the latest mornings CMC update shows the storm further south like the UKMET forming in the Oklahoma Texas panhandle then moving northeast through KC then north through Central Iowa. Tis would put much of Nebraska in the placement of the winter storm with portions of southeast South Dakota and Western Minnesota in the threat as well. The GFS is starting to come around but is still pretty weak, thus will continue to throw the gfs away. Will go with a CMC, ECMWF, NAM blend for now. Stay tuned.

Update #5 1:15 AM | 11/21 : The latest UKMET shows the storm system going from the Texas Oklahoma panhandle northeastward through eastern Kansas then through the Great Lakes. The CMC and NAM show the storm system further north going through Northern Kasnas on eastward. The latest GFS is still extremely progressive weak storm system, so will throw that one out. The latest ECMWF shows the storm system a bit further south and east forming in Western Texas then moving northeastward through Northeast Kansas near Kansas City. It now draws in colder air sufficient enough for a winter storm to occur over much of nebraska and Minnesot as well as South Dakota. Once again, lots of uncertainty exist still so will play it sage for now and go with a UKMET/ECMWF blend for now. Stay tuned for more updates.

Update #4 4:28 PM | 11/20 : The latest ECMWF is still in line with a very powerful storm system. It also slows down a bit more but some of the cold air gets cut off at the end after it deepends. However, the european would give areas of Western Nebraska, Southeast South Dakota and Southern South Dakota chances at a potential winter storm. The GEM however, is further south and stronger. The GFS on the other hand is out of its own leauge and basically striking out as usual. Will discard the GFS until it comes together with the ECMWF, HPC, CMC, UKMET and GEM.

Update #3 1:06 AM | 11/20 : The latest ECMWF now takes the storm system from Colorado eastward then northeastward through Northern Kansas to Western Iowa then northeast through Central Minnesota. This would put Nebraska, South Dakota and North Dakota in the winter storm threat. At least according to the GFS.

Update #2 11:29 PM | 11/19/09 : The latest computer models, the CMC and the ECMWF are agreeing with each other for a powerful storm system to affect the central plains with a snowstorm on the backside. The UKMET, is in line with those models at first, but goes further south in southeastern Kansas. While the GFS continues to be the outlier with a fairly weak storm system. It is safe to say, that a possible major storm could interupt travel plans for Thanksgiving. Stay Tuned.

Update #1 | 11/19/09 : The latest computer models are not in any agreement with a storm system early to mid next week. The GFS computer model has been non existant with the storm system next week while the UKMET, CMC have all been displaying some type of storm system early next week. The latest ECMWF came out and has a VERY strong low pressure storm system forming in the desert southwest and heading through the Texas Panhandle then moving northeast through Central Nebraska mid next week. The ECMWF displays the storm the strongest by far. Another storm too be watched once again and jsut remember, last weekends storm was tough to track as well, because the computer model were so bad with the consistantcy right up until the very next day of the storm! So stay tuned as next week is a busy week of traveling for Thanksgiving!
